  if by some freaking chance, (like enron, tiger woods, or the morning of august 1945 in hiroshima) the wts gets caught in a humongous scandal, say like links to human sex trafficking, (i can fantasize right) and the government steps in to investigate and finds them guilty and legally shuts them down permanently, will there be tons of suicides?

  The WTs has been framed and structured to withstand its own self imposed let downs…. There are people (GB) whose sole task and responsibility is to make sure the organization sustains itself and that is done by creating more alluring bullshit

  That’s true and they just celebrated 100 years since 1914

  But sometimes sh** happens.

  The same people whose responsibility is to make sure the organization sustains itself by creating more alluring bullshit are the same people that are blowing the horn on themselves and getting people’s attention to how crazy and deceptive the WT really is.

  Other religious organizations that eventually admitted to its wrongful doctrines were different from the Watchtower in that none of them demanded the devotion and strict adherence that the WT demands of its members. For example these other religious organizations don’t demand their followers to go door to door, to refuse blood in a life and death situation, they don't disfellowship and force their members to shun their children and parents, they are not against Higher Education, and they are not adversarial with people concerning certain holidays and events like birthdays, and they don't demand their members to be no part of the world with regard to jw children and normal school activities. That is why these other religious organizations continue when they are caught red handed with false doctrines.

  Because it really doesn’t cost the members anything.

  But for Jehovah witnesses the cost is high. Many have lost loves ones because of the blood doctrine, many have wasted their entire life pioneering a false message. Some lost out on marriage or kids because they couldn’t find someone in the “Lord” to marry so they stayed single all their life with no family of their own. Many have had to live paycheck to paycheck because they followed faithfully the admonition to not pursue higher education. And worse, once a person becomes a JW, that person builds his/her social world around other JW members Only. So if that person ever leaves the organization that person becomes socially inept and has a difficult time learning how to function normally and building any type of strong social relationships.
  

  This is the difference between what causes a person to lose it or to just blow it off.

  I liken it to the Matrix and waking people up, some people just couldn't handle it if they are not prepared, even for us who were prepared, we often go through a great deal of psychological distress, imagine those that are no where near that

  I agree with you freemindfade, I was talking to and elder and his family and they told me if it wasn't the truth, they would all just prefer to die. Of course the teenage kids were freaking shocked.

  Learning TTATT slowly is hard enough, but leaning it like this would definitely be a mind blowing shock to all JWs around the world..

  i know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!

  but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.

  i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

  I'm wondering whether the org is not really concerned about bringing in new ones anymore. Maybe it realizes that the preaching work is no longer productive and is concentrating its efforts internally.

  Magnum, I was thinking the same thing. There is no way any non-jw would be attracted to the Jw Broadcast. If anything, it would convince them to stay far away from the WT.

  If I was still in, I would be so embarrassed that these men were my spiritual leaders and I would never invite a Non JW to watch the broadcast.
  

  But I've noticed that it is a spiritual feast mostly for the older ones who have been in the organization for 50 years and up and have sacrificed a lot for the organization.

  I've known several. The older one (about 70s) was arrogant, haughty, and condescending with everyone, he is dead now. The younger one (about 25, is easy to get along with, nice and recently married a hot Asian girl) So I guess it's just like anything else, some are crazy to the max and some are nice and easy to get alone type of people. The only difference is they want to go to heaven and rule.

  As someone pointed out on another thread, the Adventist movement has had failed dates and predictions since the 1840s. They have over 18,000,000 followers present day. Don't think for a second JWs won't be there one day.

  I see a big difference though. The Adventist don't go door to door, they don't refuse blood, they don't disfellowship, they are not against Higher Education, and they are not adversarial with people concerning certain holidays and events like birthdays. That is why cults like the Adventist will continue.

  But the Watchtower is against everything and everyone. "No part of the World"

  I think the situation is cyclic... I believe that the late eighties / early nineties were part of one cycle; it was the high part....But then after 94/95, the low of the cycle came; the hope and excitement started to wane.

  Question, is there any foreseeable UP cycle up ahead. It seems like the WT has finally run out of steam. The only thing I see that would give them a boost is another WW3 or some nukes destroying some cities or some biological catastrophe of immense proportions.

  You heard the saying, “Why rock the boat when the sailing is great”

  If you were a JW in the late 70s into the late 80s you might have been one of those brothers or sisters that just happened to be in the right Kingdom Hall and with the right people.

  During that time being a JW wasn’t too bad if you were able to establish the right connections. A person could pioneer for a while and be appointed as a ministerial servant in a year or two and within 5 years you could be an elder in your twenty’s. If you married the right girl and had a decent job then life could be pretty good. You could actually picture yourself having a great life.

  Everyone in the congregation respected you, and sooner or later you would develop close ties with certain families and become close friends and together you would go camping, cookouts, movies and do all sorts of things for entertainment. In the 8o’s the weekend Kingdom hall built took off and it was a great place to associate with friends and be a part of something to talk about for years.

  And to top the whole scenario with icing, you were the generation that would see the End of a Wicked System of Things.

  So why rock the boat with apostate thinking?

  You would hear of stories of many brothers and sisters, including a member of the Governing Body leaving the TRUTH. Who cares, if they want to die and lose out on paradise, it’s their problem.

  Then came the 90s. Out of the blue the WT magazines comes out with an article that the generation of 1914 might not be the last generation.

  The article was not very clear but the implications were earth shaking. “I might grow old and die”

  You see life was great, and I didn’t want it to end. And I was offered a guarantee that my life would not end. But now the guarantee was becoming void. There was no need to rock the boat at first, but now the Watchtower was the one that started rocking the boat.

  The Watchtower boat is now sailing on turbulent waters. Many of the old ones won’t jump because they feel they are too old to swim. But the young ones are jumping ship and swimming as fast as they can.

  But that’s why many today are leaving the organization earlier than in times past. The waters are not as calm in the WT Ocean as they were in the past. And now, you can actually see the storm.
